Topsail Senior Center Topsail Senior Center - Sharing life-long skills to improve life for all. Providing services to Pender's adult citizens allows us the opportunity to observe the many skills and talents that older adults have to offer their community. Pender Adult Services hosts the Pender Volunteer Center in conjunction with volunteer and public service organizations. We match volunteers with organizations that need them. Pender County Library - Hampstead Branch Topsail Township Friends of the Library - The Friends of the Library support the library by raising funds for additional materials (such as books, audiotapes, videotapes) and equipment (such as computers). They also fund special programs such as Quiz Bowl and our spectacular Summer Performance Series for children. They welcome your participation.  Stop by to visit the library at 17135 US 17 North in Hampstead.
VIPS - Volunteers In Pender Schools Volunteers In Pender Schools - Volunteers are needed all the time, as reading tutors and events participants - ticket sales and gate workers, etc. Call Patti Longo at Topsail High School: 270-2755
The Greater Hampstead Chamber of Commerce  - volunteers help with the execution of the key local community events the Chamber  sponsors. We need a variety of skills, from cooking hot dogs, setting up tables for events, greeting local residents at these events, etc. Our bigger events are once a quarter, we have smaller events that we only need several folks for approximately once a month. If you are interested in volunteering in an area that really does not require a large commitment of your time this is it. Head Start dot.gif (1865 bytes) Pender County Head Start - Head Start is a federal program for preschool children from low-income families that helps all children succeed. Children participate in a variety of education activities, have healthy meals and snacks and enjoy playing indoors and outdoors in a safe setting. Volunteers are needed for a variety of positions. Call the Head Start Office at 270-4442.
Hospice - Lower Cape Fear dot.gif (1865 bytes) Hospice of the Lower Cape Fear - Throughout the history of hospice, volunteers have been the heart of hospice. They are involved in all facets of hospice care and services. People of all ages and from all walks of life volunteer with hospice. Eighty-five percent of our volunteers have personally seen the value of hospice services. Most are concerned about end-of-life care issues and have a desire to help others.
Poplar Grove Plantation dot.gif (1865 bytes) Poplar Grove Plantation - Just down the road in Scotts Hill, Poplar Grove Plantation preserves the homestead of a successful farming family, and the outbuildings and crafts typical of an 1800s era working community. Poplar Grove is preserved through the efforts of the non-profit Poplar Grove Foundation, and needs many volunteers with a wide variety of skills.
Twice Goods Thrift Shop - Twice Goods Thrift Shop - Safe Haven of Pender County needs volunteers to staff the thrift shop in Hampstead. The North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault is an inclusive statewide alliance working to end sexual violence through education, advocacy, and legislation. Missles & More Museum - Topsail Topsail Island Museum  - located within the Assembly Building in the town of Topsail Beach.  The Museum - Missiles and More - is operated with help from the Historical Society of Topsail Island. The Historical Society meets the second Thursday of the month at 11:30 am at the Assembly Building. Meetings are held from September through May. Please call (910) 328-8663 for more information.
